Planes: We operate one Ayres S2R Thrush, two Cessna 188 Ag Trucks, and two Air Tractor 401s equiped with trace engines. All Miccar airplanes are equipped with flow control and GPS swath guidance systems (photo at right) complete with data logging capability. In an era of economic restraint, it is imperative that dollars invested in any program achieve maximum return through effective control of the target pest, and from a cost-benefit analysis perspective. Accurate delivery of pesticide provides for optimum pest control. The most recent technological innovation has been the use of automated flow control systems, where delivery rates are automatically maintained at target levels by a pressure system regulated by GPS groundspeed data.
Aircraft operating without flow control can quite easily cause a delivery disparity of 15 per cent or more between various areas, with an obvious decrease in pest control achieved from nominal delivery rates. These aircraft are maintained by Yorkton Aircraft Services located at the Yorkton airport. Their close proximity and specialization in aerial application aircraft maintenance and parts provides us with 24-hour service during the busy seasons. Support equipment: We have a fully-equipped mobile fleet of support rigs which carry fuel, water and miscellaneous support and safety equipment. |
